As Osun State gradually approaches the 2026 governorship election, the political landscape is already heating up—but one fact remains unwavering: Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is not just the front-runner; he is the people’s choice, again.
This is not just about politics. It’s about a man whose journey reflects resilience, commitment, and genuine connection with the people. Let’s go back in time for context.
In 2017, following the untimely passing of his brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola Adeleke was thrust into the political spotlight. Against all odds and skepticism, he won the 2018 Osun West Senatorial bye-election with a landslide victory, defeating a well-entrenched candidate from the then-ruling party. This wasn’t just a win—it was a political earthquake that showed how deeply loved the Adeleke family was in Osun.
Later that same year, Adeleke contested the Osun governorship election. Despite winning the popular vote, a controversial rerun in select polling units reversed the outcome. Still, that election solidified his position as a formidable political figure, with a loyal grassroots base that has only grown stronger since then.
Fast forward to November 2022, when Osun finally got the governor it voted for: Senator Ademola Adeleke. Since assuming office, his administration has been nothing short of transformational. From aggressive road construction to reviving moribund healthcare centers, investing in education, paying workers’ salaries and pensions promptly, and launching digital economy initiatives—Governor Adeleke has proven he is more than “the dancing senator.” He is a results-driven leader.
His achievements in less than four years eclipse what many could not accomplish in eight. The infrastructure renaissance under his watch is being felt in every local government. He is building roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals—not just for political showmanship, but as a legacy of development.
A key element in 2026 will be party unity and political structure—and Adeleke has that in abundance. Currently, all three Senators from Osun State are with him. All eight Members of the House of Representatives from the state are loyal to his leadership. The entire Osun State House of Assembly is under his political control. This alignment between the executive and legislative arms ensures smooth governance and effective policy implementation.
Even more remarkable is his renewed political alignment with former Governor Rauf Aregbesola—a move that bridges past political divides and consolidates the progressive bloc. This strategic alliance speaks volumes. Everywhere you go in Osun—whether urban or rural—there is a sense of ownership over Governor Adeleke’s administration. His accessibility, simplicity, and charisma continue to win hearts. This is a governor who dances with the people not because of theatrics, but because he feels at home among them.
