Over 400 Players to compete at the Michael & Felicia Alabi Memorial Open Table Tennis Championship 2025

 

The historical town of Otàn Ayegbaju in Osun State is set to feel a frenzy of sporting action and enjoyment as the Michael & Felicia Alabi Memorial Open Table Tennis Championship returns for its 5th edition. From 27th April to 3rd May, the championship is to host more than 400 players from the 36 states of the federation.

The seven-day event, to be hosted at the Idera Multipurpose Hall, Michael Felicia Alabi Street, Ogo Oluwa, Otàn Ayegbaju, will provide real bragging rights for the winners in a series of categories.

Addressing a media briefing to kick-start the tournament, Aderotimi Adedire, Manager of Idera105.3FM and Media Director for the championship, highlighted the significance of the event as not just a sporting contest but also as a source of unity and community engagement.

“This championship continues to grow year after year, attracting talents from all regions of Nigeria and creating harmony through sport. We look forward to welcoming the players, officials, and supporters to Otàn Ayegbaju for what will be an experience they will never forget,” Aderotimi stated.

To add more flavor to the atmosphere, the event organizers have lined up a series of evening comedy shows as side activities. Each evening, lead MCs and comedians will take turns on stage to entertain guests, ensuring that laughter and camaraderie blend with the sound of paddles and applause. The entertainment is at its top gear, as there are provisions for enough food and drinks for everybody.

The championship is ably endorsed by some of the nation’s best institutions and sponsors, including: Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Federal Government of Nigeria, Osun State Government, Allykay Concept Living Hotel, Allykay Resorts, and Idẹra 105.3FM as the media partner.
